How to track, trace and communicate footwear’s chain of custody?
Shoe brands are increasingly seeing the importance of engraining more sustainable practices into their products and processes. Yet, as in the larger fashion industry, transparency is still a point of difficulty. While brands are well aware of practices at tier 1 suppliers, what happens deeper into their supply chain, over country borders, is often opaque.
To be able to put in place better practices internally, choose aligned suppliers, develop codes of conduct, measure improvements and authentically communicate to consumers, it is essential to map and analyse product supply chains. Despite the complexities, certain brand leaders and experts are doing everything they can to track and trace where their parts and materials come from and how they are manufactured.
For our Round Table ‘Footwear Leaders Talk Transparency‘, we will bring together 5-6 leaders and experts from the world of shoes to discuss the importance and value of bringing more transparency to the shoe industry. In an atmosphere of openness and non-competitiveness, we will discuss the following questions:
- How can increased transparency accelerate circular solutions in the footwear industry?
- Which tools, processes and partners can help better track and improve sourcing and manufacturing?
- What can and should we be communicating, at product level, to consumers? Which brands are ahead of the game?
