Imagine a world without toxic textile waste, where colors are from nature and nurture our nature.

Textiles and clothing should not come at the expense of people and the planet. The sector has caused a lot of damage but can also contribute to its recovery and restoration. We urgently need to invest in the development of a wider range and variety of biodegradable materials, as an alternative to harmful synthetic textiles. In addition, investments must also be made in harmless, biological dyes and dyeing methods.

Stichting Fibershed Nederland develops regional fiber systems that contribute to healthy soils, biodiversity, and carbon capture. As a thought leadership network and advocacy organization focusing on cross-industry collaboration, the non-profit is on a mission to mobilize and guide the fashion industry to (re)build and strengthen local textile supply chains on social, circular, and regenerative values. Fibershed is committed to increasing the supply and variety of natural fibers as well as the local production of high-quality and biodegradable textiles and clothing. We focus on four fiber groups, which all can eventually go back into the earth as food and contribute to healthy soil, biodiversity, and carbon dioxide absorption.

During The State of Fashion Biennale in Arnhem, The Netherlands, Fibershed will be featuring a video presentation showcasing innovative companies and pioneers that are developing new methods for the natural dyeing of textiles, based on old techniques and novel innovations. Using examples from the international Fibershed network, the presentation showcases how researchers, craftspeople, and companies invest in natural dye solutions that provide a wealth of colors and contribute to nature restoration and biodiversity.

In collaboration with Fibershed The Netherlands, Good Brand Guru invites you for an exclusive online screening of the video presentation, followed by an open discussion with the makers and contributors.

Supporters and members of the Good Brand Guru network will receive a personal invite to attend this event free of charge. Sign up as a supporter here.

After four years of hosting more than 50 knowledge sharing and networking events, connecting sustainability and fashion professionals with each other, we have decided to stop the activities we were doing under Good Brand Guru from 2023 onwards.

With equal passion and perseverance, we are continuing to strive for a better textile and clothing industry.

We are doing this through different projects, including helping companies to become BCorp and working with Fibershed at both a Dutch and European level. The Fibershed movement seeks to develop regional fiber systems that build soil and protect the health of our biosphere. Working with a soil-to-soil vision, we are rebuilding local, collaborative supply networks that are inherently fair, circular and regenerative.
